I started my working life as a CIMA accountant but left accountancy to pursue a career in the voluntary sector, where I felt I could have a more positive impact. My roles within the sector were diverse and included working with young adults and vulnerable elderly clients, most recently at Alzheimer’s Society. Now, as a diploma qualified Financial Planner, I love being able to use my financial acumen to help people achieve their goals and to protect their families.
I am married to Tim and we have 2 adult sons, Richard and Daniel, and 3 grandsons. We love walking, gardening, reading and our church in Chester. Our dream is to become as self sufficient as possible regarding our food production. So far, we grow our own veg, keep chickens and make lots of jam and chutney!
I am married to Leanne and we have two children Henry & Phoebe. Leanne is a primary school teacher who I met on a blind date over 10 years ago. Before joining NOW, I enjoyed a 10-year career as a high school teacher in Manchester. The job was extremely rewarding as I helped children to achieve their true potential.
Leanne and I took a career break in 2011 and travelled the world before returning to get married. When I am not working, I take Henry to football, rugby and swimming. Phoebe is still very young, so we are still in the early stages of nappies, milk and sleepless nights. If I do get any spare time to myself, I enjoy playing golf and skiing, and I am an avid football, cricket and rugby aficionado.
I am married to Sam & have two young daughters. We have lived in South Manchester for a number of years. In our spare time we enjoy socialising and going on family holidays. I’m also a keen football & music fan. I have a passion for helping Small Medium Enterprises in the increasingly complex area of corporate financial planning and have built up a detailed understanding of key concerns and challenges facing business owners and how to address them, as well as identifying opportunities that are sometimes over looked.
We are pleased to welcome Bernard O’Brien and his clients to NOW Financial Planning.
Bernard is a Founder Member of St. James's Place Wealth Management (previously J Rothschild Assurance) which started in 1991.
He brings a wide range of expertise and knowledge in the profession since starting in 1979 and has helped individuals, professionals and business owners to achieve their financial independence.
I am married to Sonya and have been a Financial Planner since 2005. 2005 was a big year as my eldest daughter was also born. Since then we have become a family of seven (eight including Poppy the Cockerpoo). Time out of work is mostly spent on family activities and I love a good BBQ.
After more than a decade of helping people plan and think about their finances, I have come to realise we all want to enjoy life with the people that are important to us and sometimes it’s the small behaviour changes that can empower us to realise our goals for the future.
I joined NOW Financial Planning early in 2017 so that my clients could benefit from our approach to proper Financial Planning, as it really sets us apart from other firms. I enjoy working with business owners, individuals and their families to design, build and implement a Financial Masterplan.
Having been in financial services since 1995, I chose to specialise in the areas of mortgage and protection as I found working closely with clients and helping them achieve their dreams of owning their home or improving their financial situation, in such a stressful and complex market, extremely rewarding.
Originally from deepest, darkest Peru, I am married to Sean and we have a 5-year old Birman cat called Lilaboo; I have very strong bond with my family. I practice yoga/Pilates as I find it so good for the body and soul; I love the thrill of target shooting and enjoy action films.
